I hope everyone is enjoying the gradual transition into fall. I was able to attend several local film festivals in the past month and even pick up another award in the process. It's nice to be back! Meanwhile, pre-production on Unicorns is moving ahead full steam. More on that next time. Meanwhile, have a Happy Halloween!

Awards


Evil City AwardLeah has directed several award-winning short films, including the Student Academy Award finalist Twitch and the Planet Out Award finalist Team Queen. Stay tuned to find out which new trophies have recently been added to the shelf: 
  • Team Queen won Best Music Video at the Evil City Film Fest. The prize included a hand-made "skullie" award and an ipod nano.

Image Nation logoTeam Queen is a gender-bending, fire-breathing, tassel-twirling music video for queer post-punk rockers "Triple Creme" starring the best of burlesque. Coming soon to a festival near you:
 

Twitch


New Filmmakers logoA Student Academy Award finalist, Twitch portrays a young girl's irrational fear that her mother's illness is contagious. Twitch has screened in over 200 film festivals and won a dozen international awards. Twitch continues to travel the festival circuit:

Evil City Film Fest
  • Check out some photos from the Evil City Film Fest including several parties, filmmaker panels, and the awards ceremony.
    Leah was on a panel about distribution with Arin Crumley and Susan Buice from Four Eyed Monsters, Danielle DiGiacomo from Indiepix, Jerry Rapp from Mojave Phone Booth, and Ingrid Kopp from Shooting people.
    And to top it all off, Team Queen won Best Music Video!
 
Coney Island
  • The Team Queen screening at the Coney Island Film Festival was also a lot of fun. Check out photos from that event here
