  FEBRUARY ISSUE

Leah MeyerhoffHi . . .

I just got back from Park City a few days ago and am still recovering. As a member of the Slamdance jury I watched over 65 short films in 3 days. I was on a couple of panels about online communities and the future of distribution. I saw some great films and some not so great films. I hung out with old friends and made new friends. I had a lot of meetings. I went to a seance, saw a girl break her nose, and sledded down a mountain and into a hot tub. Somehow I miraculously avoided the post-Sundance flu that everyone else seemed to get. And after a circuitous road trip through Los Angeles, I am finally back in New York and ready to focus on "Unicorns" once again. Thanks for staying tuned to my filmmaking adventures and I hope the upcoming months are full of even better stories than the last.
xoxo,
Leah

Sundance/Slamdance

SlamdanceI can safely say that this year was the coldest I have ever experienced in Park City, and yet not only did the festival-goers survive but we had a fantastic time in the process.
  • As a member of the Slamdance narrative jury, I watched dozens of short films over the course of three days. Congratulations to the winners: "Son" by Daniel Mulloy, "Doxology" by Michael Langan, and "Blood Will Tell" by Andrew McPhillips.
panel
  • I was on a panel about online communities with Matt Dentler from SXSW, Sarah Pollack from YouTube, and Lora Kratchounova from Our Stage. I was also on another panel about the future of distribution which you can read more about here.

Sundance

  • Outside of my official duties, I also had a lot of Unicorn-related meetings, went to way too many parties, didn't see nearly enough films, and followed Unico around on a winter wonderland adventure in the snow. Check out my "Unico in the Snow" photo blog here.
